Where and when do I join the tour?
We collect you from where ever you are staying in Blenheim or Picton townships, the Picton waterfront or the Marlborough wine region. We will advise exact collection time when you book. The tour takes you around the Marlborough wine region, on the outskirts of Blenheim, then to the Marlborough Sounds waterfront for lunch and a seafood cruise of the Marlborough Sounds. At the end of the tour we drop you back to your collection point in Blenheim or Picton townships, or the Picton waterfront.
What’s available during the tour?
As part of the wine tour you enjoy wine tastings at two wineries, we then stop for a waterfront lunch (charged separately) and as part of the seafood cruise we serve fresh local seafood with a glass of Marlborough sauvignon blanc.
What should I bring along on the tour?
Bring a water bottle, your camera, a sunhat and sunscreen. It also pays to bring a light windbreaker jacket for during the Marlborough Sounds cruise. In the middle of summer you may wish to bring your swimsuit and a towel, as there may be an opportunity to have a swim during the cruise, while we are anchored. There may be occasional opportunities during the tour to stop for essential items, but we encourage you to bring everything you think you may require for the day.
Will I get carsick or seasick and should I take medication?
No, getting carsick or seasick is very unlikely. Our luxury touring vans have excellent visibility and are large and spacious with air-conditioning, and the Marlborough roads are generally smooth and straight. During the cruise, the Marlborough Sounds is a very sheltered waterway and doesn’t get ocean swells or waves. We generally have fairly flat sea conditions in the inner Sounds area that we cruise. A strong wind can make things choppy but it’s uncommon to encounter rough sea conditions on this cruise. Our luxury launches are very large and stable.
I am travelling by myself – will your tour still operate?
This tour has a minimum of 2 people. Send us an email with the date/s you will be in Marlborough, we can let you know the best day/s to come touring, when we have other guests booked in.
Do you have group tours?
Yes, if you are travelling with a group and are interested in a group tour, please let us know. We have a range of vans and coaches, and can arrange this tour on a date that suits you. We operate a variety of Marlborough group cruises and tours, and South Island tours.
